ROYAL MASONIC BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION
Registered Charity No. 207360
As an organisation offering degrees of care, support and assistance appropriate
to individual needs, we are committed to ensuring the individuals right
to dignity, respect, choice and control over their own lives.
The responsibility for administering the current RMBI annuities has passed to
the Grand Charity, with the payment of grants to existing recipients being made
from investment funds transferred from the RMBI to the Grand Charity.
Residential and Nursing Homes - The Institution is a major provider of high
quality services for older people throughout England and Wales, and over 1,150
older Freemasons and their dependants live in our Homes. Many of the 18 Homes
are registered for both residential and nursing care. Fee income from residents
and state benefits, where appropriate, offset the cost of running the Homes.
However, the cost to the Institutions in 2002 was over £3.5m. As well as
providing sheltered housing, Residential and Nursing care, the
Institutions Homes are now developing their services for older people
with special needs (example: Dementia and Alzheimerss disease).
The Institution can also offer short-stay breaks. These are helpful for both
those living alone and for families which need a little time without the
demands of caring for an older relative.
Applications for admission (permanent or temporary) or for further details
about a specific Home should be addressed to the Home concerned. Alternatively,
general enquiries should be made to the Care Operations Directorate at Great
Queen Street.
Guest Speaker - A speaker on the aims, achievements and needs of the
Institution can be provided at Lodge or other meetings.
