Under the United Grand Lodge of England, freemasonry is the UK's largest, secular fraternal and charitable organisation. It has over 300,000 members working in nearly 8,000 lodges throughout England and Wales, and over 30,000 more members overseas.
Founded in 1786 and with over 1,200 members, the Province of Bristol is a relatively small province. However, with its strong history, unique ceremonies and charitable donations, the Province of Bristol holds a unique place in masonry.
On Wednesday the 24th of November the Past Provincial Grand Master for Bristol, Rt WBro Alan Vaughan, stepped up at short notice to carry out a full Bristol installation ceremony for his lodge, the Jerusalem Lodge (No. 686), as the Worshipful master was unable to attend due to Illness.
This was a very important meeting for the PPGM as it marked his 50th Year in craft masonry. He was presented with his 50 year certificate by the current Provincial Grand Master, RT WBro Jonathan Davies. He was also presented with a gift to mark the occasion by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, V WBro Richard Lewis.

Dear Brethren and Companions of the Province of Bristol,
All of you who have been into Freemasons Hall, Park Street, in the last few days will no doubt have seen, that we have erected the Christmas Tree (s) in all the ground floor rooms and we hope you will be able to assist us in getting the word round to all your Members, that the 34th Annual Christmas Tree Appeal is underway. We need all the help we can get, to enable us to deliver decent Christmas Presents to as many Children as we can, who otherwise will get very little if anything on Christmas Day.

Following the removal of Covid restrictions by HM Government on the 19th of July 2021 and the guidance received from the United Grand Lodge of England, several Protocols were put in place by The Province of Bristol to be observed by everyone using Freemasons Hall, Bristol.
These protocols are intended to ensure the continuing safety and health of our members, guests and staff and they remain a priority. These measures are intended to allay any concerns that members may have, whilst encouraging them to visit Freemasons' Hall, Park Street, once again.
Initially the protocols were envisioned to remain in place until 30th September 2021, however, to ensure that the Executive Members of the Province of Bristol maintain their duty of care to everyone using the premises, these protocols will continue in their prese not format until the 31st of December and will be reviewed monthly thereafter .
